Accendero Software, Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill the role of  Computational Chemist  at their Idaho Falls, ID location. The ideal candidate is a P.hD in computational chemistry, pharmaceutical science, or equivalent that has 2+ years or more of post-doctorate experience relating to pharmaceutical computational chemistry OR a Master’s (M.S,) in computational chemistry, pharmaceutical science, or equivalent that has 5+ years of professional experience in pharmaceutical computational chemistry. This candidate will have a multi-faceted background that has given them the requisite experience to interact with both programmers and scientists to coordinate and drive client projects forward. In addition, this candidate will have the requisite ability to digest and engineer complex scientific informatics solutions in more general scientific data science contexts. This candidate should be prepared to interact with business clients (both staff scientists and executives) on a day-to-day basis and provide initial feasibility analyses of requested features from both a technical and scientific perspective.

The  Computational Chemist  will report to individual project leads within the pharmaceutical software division at Accendero Software. Responsibilities:

  • Assist project leads on translating core scientific requirements on client projects. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: dose response curves, biochemical assay data, decomposition algorithms, computational analysis packages for molecule development, etc.
  • Assist project leads in scoping initial client requests and provide feasibility analyses from both a scientific and engineering perspective.
  • Assist Engineering in general scientific data science support across all project portfolios.
  • Evaluate and port legacy code packages (R, Fortran, perl, etc.) to Python.
  • Develop test cases for scientific packages and code.
  • Coordinate delivery, scheduling, and overall project management based on client requests with individual project leads and project management.
  • Provide scientific support to engineering when necessary for client projects.
  • Coordinate with client-based scientific product owners on development and quality assurance of particular scientific packages.
  • Develop and curate a controlled vocabulary or lexicon for pharmaceutical projects to allow for concise communication regarding requirements and specifications to the engineering group.

 

Requirements:

  • A Masters (MS) or Doctorate (Ph.D) in computational chemistry, pharmaceutical science, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of Post-Doctoral experience (Ph.D) OR 5+ years of professional computational chemistry in pharmaceutical science (M.S.)
  • Demonstrable experience in complex algorithm development with open source scientific toolkits and languages like rdkit, SciPy, R, etc.
  • 1-2 years professional experience in a client-facing role.

  • Familiarity with IDEs and other common software development tools.
  • Professional experience within the full software development lifecycle.
  • Portfolio of delivered scientific informatics projects.
  • Professional experience within the full software application design lifecycle.
  • Authorship on publications accepted by a reputable academic journal in pharma adjacent scientific disciplines.
  • Professional or post-doctoral experience in pharmaceutical or pharmaceutical-adjacent scientific laboratories.
  • Familiarity with industry standard software project management tools and/or applications.
  • Familiarity with generative AI in scientific applications
