Your Role: High School Spanish Teacher

As a High School Spanish Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in developing students into global citizens. You will become an expert in your course content and inspire high school students to communicate confidently in Spanish. Your classroom will be a safe space where students can express themselves and grow academically. By the end of high school, your students will be ready for academic autonomy and college preparatory work.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Instruction:
    • Build students' bilingual skills and enhance their understanding of the Spanish language through a curriculum that prepares them for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate-level coursework.
    • Help students gain confidence in navigating authentic print and audio sources.
    • Teach essential foreign language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
    • Cultivate cultural awareness by immersing students in the Spanish language.
    • Share your passion for Spanish to foster a community of confident speakers.
    • Encourage students to engage in conversations in Spanish.
    • Collaborate with the Spanish department to set academic and engagement goals.
  2. Data Analysis:
    • Meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze student work samples and assessments.
    • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.
  3. School Culture:
    • Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
    • Partner with families to provide resources that support their child's learning needs.
    • Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
    • Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to cultivate community and encourage student achievement.
    • Collaborate with your grade-level team to develop academic goals and instructional strategies.

Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
  • A self-directed learner who actively seeks and implements feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Required Experience:
    • A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools (1-2 years experience preferred).
    • Academic expertise in Spanish or related fields of study.
    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required prior to employment. Teacher certification is not a prerequisite, but you must meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $56,000 to $80,000 . Starting pay is determined by various factors, including relevant full-time teaching experience and education certifications.
