Job Description

The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer spearheads ongoing enhancements in production processes by leveraging data-driven insights, innovative design, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. This role is responsible for crafting and executing standard operating procedures, as well as developing specialized tooling and fixtures to uphold product quality and boost operational efficiency. The position entails fostering partnerships with external suppliers, orchestrating the introduction of new products, resolving process-related challenges, and steering improvement initiatives. By prioritizing the refinement of production strategies and upholding rigorous quality benchmarks, this professional plays a pivotal role in fulfilling customer expectations and sustaining superior manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead ongoing process enhancement initiatives, including Design of Experiments (DOE), and analyze data to refine processes and implement Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Formulate and document standard operating procedures and best practices, encompassing assembly and inspection protocols
  • Conceptualize and engineer tooling, fixtures, and gauges essential for producing high-quality products
  • Devise comprehensive manufacturing strategies for new product lines
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to develop and optimize production processes
  • Evaluate and update process routings, considering final print tolerance requirements and their potential alterations throughout various machining and specialized operations (e.g., heat treatment, plating, electropolishing)
  • Orchestrate production schedules for new products and troubleshoot processes as needed
  • Oversee and execute improvement projects
  • Establish and enforce process and quality plans to meet or exceed product quality specifications
  • Generate and complete Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) and Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks with a minimum of 2 years and preferably 4 or more years of hands-on experience is essential
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, proceed with objectives and direct the work of others with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and OEM product design
  • Ability to use/understand computer programming (LabView, Arduino, etc.)
  • Familiarity with motor controls and instrumentation preferred
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from machinists, managers and customers
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form ASQ CQT, CMI, LEAN exposures and six sigma belt training preferred
  • Effective communication and analytical skills to solve problems effectively and efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications required
