Job Title: Scientist II –– Vaccine and Biologicals

Location: Omaha, NE (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Pay rate: $50- $53/ hr.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Biotechnology and Solutions (BTS) Process Development team, specializing in the development and scale-up of processes for vaccine and biological product manufacturing. This role will involve working with microbial, virus, and cell cultures, as well as biomolecule purification and final formulation of veterinary vaccines and therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and scale-up processes for microbial, virus, and cell cultivations, and biomolecule purification for vaccine and biological manufacturing.
• Lead the transfer of processes from R&D to the production line, ensuring adherence to timelines and meeting safety, quality, and cost-efficiency standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, R&D) to improve product processes and troubleshoot challenges.
• Conduct technical investigations, process improvements, and validation projects to ensure continuous product development.
• Provide scientific guidance and make data-driven decisions to improve processes and solve technical issues.
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and risk assessments to ensure efficient project execution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Microbiology (4+ years of experience), or master’s degree (3+ years of experience), or PhD (1+ year of experience) in a related field.
• Expertise in cell culture techniques, aseptic techniques, and virology.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Experience in bioprocess scale-up and vaccine manufacturing is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of GMP requirements and USDA regulations.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of statistics and its application to process monitoring and control.
• Experience in biological manufacturing and technical transfer processes.
